Using the site

School Intel is free to use. It republishes official statistics and inspection outcomes, each with its source and period, under the Open Government Licence v3.0 and the other licences named on the sources page. You may reuse the figures on the same terms, citing the original publisher.

The site sets each school’s figures in context. It is not a league table, and its figures should not be presented as one. Figures describe a school in a given year; they do not judge it. Before relying on a figure for a decision, check it against the publisher’s own release, linked beside every figure.

The site is provided as it is, without warranty. Figures can lag their publishers by up to a week.

Privacy

The site sets no cookies, uses no analytics or advertising, and loads nothing from other companies’ servers: pages, map tiles and data come from the site and its file storage at the same hosting provider. Searches run in your browser: a postcode search fetches the file for the postcode area (its first one or two letters, such as TS), and the full postcode is never sent anywhere. The hosting provider keeps standard server logs for security and operation.

The site publishes no personal data: no names of headteachers, governors, staff or clerks.

Corrections

If a figure looks wrong, send a correction with the school’s URN, the figure and what you expected. If the site has copied a figure wrongly, the fix goes out in the next weekly release. If the publisher’s figure is wrong, the site will say so and point you to the publisher, who can correct it at source.
