The problem

A single year's figure is a snapshot. Boards are handed national headlines that say where a school sits, not why it sits there or what the board did about it.

What I built

A School Summary that sets the school's own data beside the local authority and England across several years, area by area. Each measure has an explanation of what the figure tells you, what it cannot tell you, and a question for the next meeting. Questions go into a meeting brief, each with an owner role and a review date, and the brief downloads for the meeting.

The school's dashboard opens on its own improvement priorities from the uploaded plan, so the board looks at its own plan from the first day rather than an empty page.

Design decisions

The trend is the story. Showing several years at once lets the board see whether a number is a one-off or a direction, and each explanation is honest about what the data cannot show.

What you can see

The summary for each area, the explanation behind each measure, and a downloadable meeting brief.

The result

A board that can say why a number moved, and whether it knew in time, rather than only noting the figure.
